Taekwondo is a very popular martial art that originated in Korea. It’s known for its kicks, high jumps, and spinning kicks which are used to fight off opponents. While there is no one way to become a Black Belt, it usually takes around 3-5 years of training before you can be considered for the rank. Santa Clarita TaeKwonDo is one of the most popular martial arts for kids as they learn much more than just self-defense moves. Moving through the different levels of Taekwondo, each student learns this special art and is tested on their skillset along the way. Belt Advancement

White Belt

The white belt represents purity, innocence, and openness of mind. A white belt is like a clean canvas, allowing anything to be written on it. The student has no preconceived thoughts or expectations when they first start off in the rank of white belt. There’s nothing stopping them from absorbing new knowledge and skills with an open mind.

Yellow Belt

The yellow belt represents truth and integrity. It’s important that students are truthful with themselves to eliminate egotistical behavior and create a personal commitment. It also represents a seed, each with its own inherent potential. The seed can not grow into something that it is not. Students must accept ourselves as unique individuals to excel. 

Green Belt 

The green belt represents growth. We need to grow in order to be successful. Students should accept change when it’s necessary, even if feelings of insecurity come with it. A green belt reminds us that we are alive and living in the present. Living isn’t stagnant or rigid like death, instead, living means moving forward with curiosity each day to see what new things life will bring.

Blue Belt 

The blue belt represents and sky and ocean. Our naked eye can see only a small portion, but it does not represent all there is in this world. The sea has depths we cannot see and currents that flow under its surface continuously. To truly know what lies beneath an individual must train to be mentally as well as physically strong, and with determination and perseverance, they will reach greater heights than those unambitious individuals who shy away from challenges ahead of them.

Red Belt

The red belt represents the energy and brightness that comes from sunlight. When we learn to fight in Taekwondo, it is not just our physical skills that get stronger. We develop the mental will and determination needed to overcome difficult situations with perseverance too. The red belt also represents limitations, which is the opposite of limitless blue belts. In contrast to limitation, it allows an individual to evaluate his or her progress and prepare them for reaching their short-term goals that in turn leads one to achieving a long term goal.

Black Belt 

The black belt is a combination of all the colors, representing all the various concepts of each. The rank of black belt represents a new beginning, allowing you to learn new skills with the tools you have been given. The Black Belt is a symbol of hard work, discipline and personal growth. It shows the commitment to ethical values that you have developed during your training like encouragement, patience, and respect for others. The journey will lead to many opportunities and represents not just pride, but also an opportunity at continued learning in order to better oneself on this new path.
